Question about LG UltraGear 34GN850-B
Hello I would actually like to buy this monitor but I have connection concerns as I want to buy a new slim NUC. This monitor has HDMI 2.0 (without a! 2.0a) and Displayport 1.4. The NUC has HDMI 2.0a (7.1 sound possible, unfortunately only one of them) and Thunderbold (don't know which version looks like usb-C on a smartphone to me but has a lightning symbol) Info about this article NUC Processor: Core i5 10210U - 4x 1.6GHz - Turbo Boost up to 4x 4.2GHz - 8 threads - 6MB cache - UHD graphics Equipment: 2x USB 3.0 (rear) - 1x USB 3.0 (front) - 1x USB 3.1 Type-C (front) - 1x Thunderbolt (rear) - 1x HDMI 2.0a - 7.1 channel via HDMI - 1x RJ45 (LAN) - WLAN 6 (802.11ax) - Bluetooth (5.0) - Infrared - SD card reader I would like to use the HDMI port of the NUC to connect my sound system. Is it technically possible? Is it also sensible to connect Thunderbold to DisplayPort without loss of quality and without sync problems? Which connection cable (brand) should I use for this? Why did I choose exactly this monitor LG UltraGear 34GN850-B (3440 x 1440 pixels, 34 ")? It is the only one with a brightness of 400 cd/m² (the daylight comes into the room from the side), all the others had 250 to 300 (what is a good cd/m² value then?). Or does anyone have another better suggestion for a monitor? I'm not a gamer but I do watch real films and sit in front of the PC all day (it's my hobby). I don't like anything that flickers because the synch causes problems.

This works without any problems, 2.0 or 2.0a is no problem. However, I would choose a monitor with a higher resolution, a 32 inch 4K UHD with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, the monitor would not be wider, but the extra resolution is highly recommended, you just see more without having to scroll. And you can also watch movies in the proper 4K UHD resolution, which is a huge advantage. My recommendation for the screen would be this one, it has HDR600, which means it's even better for movies and brighter than 400cd and it has the latest connectivity with HDMI 2.1.

This screen has a very fast refresh rate of 144 Hz and there will be no flickering or judder. And there are no sync problems either (it's a gamer screen and they are always super fast).
I wouldn't recommend the NUC either, it has an old processor and isn't particularly fast. My recommendation would be this model with a much faster AMD Ryzen 5 5500U CPU. This model here can also be upgraded to 32 GB RAM if required and offers all the necessary connections (Windows 10 Pro is included and installed, Windows 11 Pro as an update is also included). The AMD Ryzen 5 5500U is more than twice as fast as an intel i5-10210U processor (which is from 2019 and has only 4 cores/8 threads, the AMD processor is from 2021 and has 6 cores / 12 threads):

Connecting to the sound system is no problem at all - it works flawlessly. Thanks to HDMI 2.0, the full resolution is also available if a TV is connected.
Thunderbolt with a lightning symbol would mean that pretty much everything, LAN, video and sound, can be connected via it. The Asus Mini PC can do all that too. via the USB-C port.
