Hello, I read that software is needed for the installation. Is this a one-time thing or on every device where you want to use the Samsung T1? Thanks for your help. Greetings Angelo

Helpful answer

Hi Angelo
The SSD can only be recognised by the computer if the necessary drivers are installed. This has to be done once on each device, then the T1 can be used normally.
Kind regards

The hard disk is initially locked. With the Samsung app (a driver is automatically installed on the Mac, even with 10.11 El Capitan), the hard drive can be permanently unlocked, or you can set your own password.
If unlocked, the hard drive can then be used anywhere without a driver or app. On the Mac, it is now also possible to boot from the hard disk.
However, if a password is set, the driver and Samsung app are required to open the hard drive again. It is not possible to boot from the hard disk: The Samsung app has to be opened first.

The Samsung T3 has the same feature, but is not locked initially. It can therefore be used immediately.
