Hello, I have exactly this screen and would like to mount it on the wall. But I can't find the right mount for it. Do I need an adapter? If so, which one?
Hello Mimicry,
To mount the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 - G80SD (32", 3840 x 2160 pixels) on the wall, you will need a VESA-compatible wall mount, as the monitor supports a VESA mounting interface. According to the monitor's specifications, the VESA dimension is 100 x 100 mm.
Steps for choosing the right wall mount:
Check VESA compatibility: Select a wall mount that supports the VESA dimension 100 x 100 mm. This is standard for most wall mounts for monitors of this size.
Note the weight: The Odyssey OLED G8 weighs approximately 8.5 kg (with stand, the weight without stand may be slightly less). Make sure that the wall mount is designed for a weight of at least 8.5 kg.
Type of mount: Consider whether you want a fixed, tilting, swivelling or fully movable mount:
Fixed bracket: For stable, space-saving mounting directly on the wall.
Tilting mount: Allows you to tilt the monitor for better viewing angles.
Full-motion mount: Offers maximum flexibility with pan and tilt function.
Adapter: As a rule, you do not need an additional adapter for the Odyssey OLED G8 as the VESA mounting interface is directly integrated. However, if your monitor does not have exposed VESA holes (e.g. due to a special cover), check the user manual to see if a cover needs to be removed. In rare cases, specific adapters may be required for certain mounts, but this is unlikely with standard VESA mounts.
Recommended wall mounts:
Neomount's FPMA-D550: An affordable desk and wall mount that supports 100 x 100 mm VESA and is suitable for monitors up to 32".
Chief MTA1U Medium Fusion: A tiltable wall mount that is suitable for monitors up to 55" and supports VESA 100 x 100 mm.
Vogel's WALL 3245: A fully movable wall mount suitable for monitors up to 32" and 15 kg, with VESA 100 x 100 mm.
Tips:
Check mounting: Make sure the wall can support the mount and the weight of the monitor (e.g. concrete wall vs. drywall).
Cable management: Make sure that the mount leaves enough space for the connections (HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB hub), as the monitor offers many connection options.
Installation: Follow the monitor's instructions to safely remove the stand if this is necessary for installation.
If you have a specific mount in mind or are unsure if an adapter is needed, please let me know more details (e.g. model of mount or photos of the back of the monitor). I hope this helps you!
Good luck with the installation!
