Hello everyone Has anyone tried to (partially) charge a Macbook Air via USB-C/PD? I would be happy to hear whether the Macbook accepts the power source or not.
I tried connecting an Intenso PD10000 to my Macbook Pro 2021.
Results over USB-C:
- Macbook: "Power Source: Power Adapter. Battery Is Not Charging"
- Power bank: green led lights up
- Cable with built-in power meter: "21W PD"
Results over USB-A:
- Macbook: "Power Source: Power Adapter. Battery Is Not Charging"
- Power bank: no green led
I haven't tried it, but technically it won't work, as a MacBook Air normally needs 67 watts to charge (30W is enough for older 13 inch models) and this power bank only supplies 18W.
The intenso power banks are among the best in my opinion. As a result of the enquiry, I have just carried out a test with my iPad. It had a charge of 38% and the powerbank had a charge of 100%. After approx. 40 minutes, the iPad had a charge of 62% and the powerbank a charge of 58%. So you can say that charging at least with the iPad works without any problems.
