Question about Sonos Playbase
Hello all I'm thinking of getting my mother a Playbase. She would use it to watch TV and DVDs, and primarily to listen to the radio. Therefore, my questions are: 1. can the DVD player be connected to the TV via HDMI and the sound (stereo is sufficient) is then available via the Playbar? 2. is the TV also connected to the Playbar via HDMI? Can I listen to the radio with the Playbar? If so, is it via the Internet, or is there a roundabout in it? 4. does the radio also work without the TV running? Thank you very much!

Hello.Michael has answered your question honestly.In my opinion,what you want to realise for your mother would be better and by no means more expensive with a smaller AV receiver with 2 good shelf speakers.If necessary,I would be happy to make good and inexpensive suggestions in this direction.
Not only would you or your mother be able to expect an improvement in sound quality, but the ergonomics/operation (classic remote control) and real FM/DAB radio (if desired) would also be on board as standard.
I don't want to badmouth Sonos in any way,I use 2 Sonos Play myself,but where it makes sense.I don't see it that way with TV setups.

Re 1: Yes.
To 2: You can connect the TV with a digital optical audio cable. I think it's called Toslink. So the TV has to support it, but I think most of them do.
Re 3: Yes, of course. But it's not a classic radio, it's Internet radio. For this, the Playbase must be connected to the Internet router via WLAN (or with a LAN cable). The mobile with the Sonos app serves as a remote control and must be in the same WLAN as the Playbase. I personally use the Playbase with the Spotify music streaming service.
Re 4: No, you don't need the TV to listen to music.
