hello all I am a beginner and would like to know if the MSI B360 Gaming Plus (LGA 1151, Intel B360, Atx) motherboard is compatible with the Intel core i7 7700k BOX (LGA 1151,4.20GHz, unlocked)?

B360 is made for the 8th gen. Physically it is the same socket as for the 7.gen, but the 8.gen are 6.cores, the 7700k is still a 4-core, so this socket is slightly different. What exactly intel doesn't tell you, but the differences are internal, and as far as I know it also affects the power supply of the CPU.
You're in the wrong place with a B chipset anyway, if you want to buy a K CPU, it's best to take a Z chipset, then you can also overclock. If you don't want to overclock anyway, you can just take the normal 7700.
