Hello all Due to a defect, I need to replace the fan. How do I clean the Intel Core i7 from the thermal paste without damaging it? With a cloth soaked in alcohol? Many thanks HHS
It is best to first roughly wipe off the thermal paste with a dry cloth, then with a cloth soaked in alcohol (doesn't take much) or an alcohol wipe. Do not use a cloth that you want to reuse, the thermal paste is almost impossible to remove, a handkerchief or kitchen paper is also sufficient.
You won't damage the i7 so quickly, just make sure that no thermal paste (depending on the base, it is electrically conductive) drips onto the mainboard if it is still thick, it can cause a short circuit and make a mess that is almost impossible to remove.
