Hello all. Can anyone tell me how many watts the power supply unit must have? digitec seems to neglect such important things here. I have an 850W BeQuiet power supply. I am looking for something that is especially suitable for screen recording (games). My box is currently almost 7 years old and has never had to upgrade anything. But unfortunately it's time to replace the graphics card (GTX 770) as it can't record more than 1080p and only at 50fps and that's with older games. And I don't need to mention anything about emulators (PCSX2), because my graphics card reaches its limits at 2x native (only playing, no recording).
No, unfortunately we can't tell you how many watts the power supply unit must have for this graphics card. Precisely for the reason that it is not Digitec's business to provide such information.
Why? The power supply is not exclusive to the graphics card. Whether the power supply is sufficient or how big it has to be, can only be said if you know the entire system. That means CPU (OC yes or no), RAM, hard disks, SSD, DVD, fan, etc.
But as a rule of thumb, I would say that 850W should be enough. Without knowing the system, I would even say that it is oversized and could be up to 200W too big. With a power supply, it's not that "a lot helps a lot" is good.
