Has anyone been able to test whether the device can use 512GB memory cards without any problems?

Yes, it works for me with 512gb, no problem.
I haven't noticed any problems so far
Works very well with a 522gb card

I haven't tested it with 512 Gb, but it should be OK according to the manual.
