I received the machine today. However, a lot of water runs out next to the piston and soils my whole table. Is that normal?

Of course, it doesn't have to be. Perhaps take good care to attach the portafilter correctly. There are many instructions and videos for exactly this model too. If there is still a problem, you may unfortunately have a warranty claim.
