h1n uses AAA batteries or rechargeable batteries for operation. It also has a USB micro 5V DC input. So much for the theory. In practice, the DC 5V input switches off again after about 5 seconds, regardless of whether I have AA batteries or AA rechargeable batteries (freshly charged) or nothing in the battery compartment. Batteries last an estimated 2 hours of recording, then it's over. Rechargeable batteries last about 10 minutes. Conclusion: Good pictures, but the power supply is a joke.
Addendum: Have you carried out the battery setting in the main menu? There you have to specify what kind of energy source you are using (alkaline, rechargeable...) so that the display is correct. Rechargeable batteries have less cell voltage and different discharge curves, so this makes sense.
My Zoom is on all day every day via the USB connection (even though the batteries are in) and works great as an audio interface. When I record with batteries, I only have to change them very rarely. Last several weeks in my use, even though I need the thing almost daily. (I never record for 2 hours at a time, but only a few minutes of audio clips).
Update:
The input of power sources (e.g. a power bank) via USB connection only works when the battery compartment is empty. Yes, it is indeed possible to set the energy source (alkaline, NiMH batteries or Li-Ion) in the settings. With other alkaline batteries I recently recorded about 5/4 hours non-stop and the display is still on 3 out of 3 segments.
Your zoom must have a defect! I was able to record for a few hours without any problems, even with the batteries included (according to the information on the packaging, up to 10 hours should be possible). So be sure to have it replaced or repaired!
