Oehlbach Jump!
Oehlbach Jump!
Good day I know that the hi-fi industry makes a lot of money with cables. I still bought expensive ones... I just want an honest answer, maybe with a logical reasoning. I simply use 4 cm long OFC speaker cables with 4mm2 average as a bridge. Why should these sound better for 30.-? What advantage do they have? Convince me! Thank you very much for the answer! Kind regards, Severin

The quality of the Oehlbach cables is very good. In my experience with hi-fi cables, you should definitely use higher-quality (higher-priced) cables, because here at least the plug quality is much better than with simple cables. I have already experienced twice that the sound of my system changed negatively and it was ultimately due to slightly slipped plugs. The optical plugs are really bad and I would never use them.
My recommendation: buy Oehlbach cables, then at least you have the possibility to test the influence of cables in a blind test for little money. This influence should not be over- or underestimated, but it is only about 10%. Better speakers and amplifiers are more effective.
I switched my Martin Logan from bi-wiring (Transparent Cable) to single wiring, as I wanted to use the Transparent for other speakers. The standard supplied bridge pieces (a thin, chrome plaque) looked too cheap to me, so I bought the Oehlbach Jump. Unfortunately, I had no other alternative at home like you had. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the sound characteristics, except that the sound seemed clearer, more airy and transparent with the Oehlbach than with the standard bridge. I wouldn't be surprised if the 4mm2 OFC cable pieces had been better either. I don't like using cables without secure terminals (cable lugs or banana plugs, or similar), so wanted a pre-made bridge. I hope the answer was sufficient. Unfortunately, a certain subjectivity is always present, especially with cables in my opinion.......
ls with bi-wiring/bi-amping terminals should actually come with jumpers that match the ls in terms of quality. e.g. metal plates made of gold-plated brass or cables. i prefer the jumpers made of one piece to the cables. the reason is simple: every plug/crimp or solder connection weakens the overall line and is a potential source of interference, cables made of silver-plated copper at both ends with gold-plated brass cable lugs(?), no description from the manufacturer about the type of connection and material of the cable lugs(?). furthermore: the shorter a connection, the better. the fewer transitions/connections, the better. by the way, you have actually already answered your question in your first sentence. technically/physically: cable sound does not exist (neither does amplifier sound). esoterically: hand-cast by naked virgins under a full moon. ideal: made by decently paid workers from a non-hierarchical cooperative, resource-saving and fairly traded, made from the most non-toxic materials possible (pvc/halogen-free), with raw materials from environmentally and humanly sound mining (no colonial raw material theft, subsidised bribery, soeparamilitary surveillance, no child labour, no wage slavery, no prison labour, i.e. no nestle, no glencore, etc).
