Good afternoon; I have just purchased the machine and would be interested to know if other owners could share their experiences: 1.Brewing pressure The brewing pressure when making an espresso seems far too high on mine; it reaches just over 12 bar. I also have to grind far too finely to get a reasonable brew ratio (20-30 seconds for espresso). With a blind sieve it is also 12 bar and without (empty draw) 11 bar. 2. steam extraction Despite experience and ECM jugs, the milk gets hot before foam can form. Condensation is expelled beforehand. Milk is fine and from the fridge. I otherwise follow the instructions. Any ideas or tips? Thank you very much.
Since I'm an absolute beginner and have no comparison, I'm afraid I can't contribute much that makes sense. I'm still struggling with the basics: grind, constant tamping,... and I get quite different "shots"...
I will probably take the machine to a course.
I just had the machine on and checked:
1. the pressure is constant at 9 bar with normal sieve and blind sieve.
2. I had imagined that frothing would be less complicated. I have to "pull" for a very long time to achieve a reasonable volume. But there is quite a lot of steam coming out. I have a cheap jug. In the well-known online videos it always looks much shorter: pull briefly and then roll. That's it.
There is a connection between boiler temperature and steam pressure. Yesterday I turned it up to 122°.
Give ECM a call. They are very nice.
I'd be happy to hear back about what's causing the high pressure.
