Samsung smartphones that ship with the new European base firmware do not have a European SIM lock. The European base firmware can be recognised by the suffix EUB, EUX or EUY at the end of the model code. You can use these devices directly with a global SIM of your choice without activating a German SIM. You can also use a European SIM in combination with a non-European SIM.
