Even after comparing the corresponding descriptions several times, the models Plustec OpticFilm 8200i Ai, OpticFilm 8200i SE, OpticFilm 8100, although different in price, seem to me to be almost identical in performance. Can anyone help me understand what justifies the price difference? Is the more expensive model worth it? With many thanks in advance

Helpful answer

The difference lies in the software version supplied:
Plustek OpticFilm 8200i Ai -> SilverFast Ai Studio 8
Plustek OpticFilm 8200i -> SilverFast SE Plus 8 (+iSRD)
Plustek OpticFilm 8100 -> SilverFast SE Plus 8

A comparison of the software can be found here:

I own Plustek OpticFilm 8200i and I can only explain the price difference by the Silverfast SW that comes with it. My product (scanner and SW) works perfectly and functions perfectly. The only thing I use is Adobe Photoshop for image processing to get better quality on older photo negatives. I get good results with it.

I bought the more expensive 8200i; the difference is the software. Silverfast may be good for many, but I was not really happy with it and finally bought the VueScan software. For me, it is much easier to use, faster and gives very good results. Therefore, I would buy the SE version today and switch to VueScan.
