Question about Huawei P20 Pro
Does this model still get software updates and patches at all? Huawei only has the newer models on its support list.

One of the drawbacks of owning Android phones is that each Manufacture needs update their software according to the first party Manufacture specs. If you want the support and current software updates go with a Pixel Phone (Google) .
With Apple and the line of iPhones are on about 5yr cycle with iOSv12, iOSv13...iOSv14 Means iPhone5s (2013)- iPhoneXR (2018) for iOSv12 and etc... see link below

To Answer the Question about the P20Pro they were suppose to have had an update start of the year but with the Google politics its seems like they keept delaying the update. Currently Android Version 9; Build 9.1.037; EMUI 9.1.0. They said v10 Suppose to come out but Im not holding my breath. All major Apps do all work with v9, however v11 is just around the corner and might be limit on certain niche apps that wont work on v9. Hope this Answers the question.
I unlock the Developer Options and play around settings to makes the phone (seem like it) run faster. For the Price its a great phone i bought the phone in July 2018 almost 2years ago and paid 739- but for 408.- its a great phone. The image processing the camera does still one of the best in my opinion.
