Question about Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Enterprise Edition

Does the storage from the expansion slot integrate seamlessly with the built-in storage? A few years ago I had a phone that had an expansion slot, but you couldn't install apps on the SD card, and it was nearly impossible to configure apps to use the storage for their data, and when you updated the app, all was lost.
