Does the lamp provide enough light as the only lamp in the kitchen?

Yes! :) I have additionally chewed 2x the following bulb for this:
Philips SceneSwitch (E14, 470lm, 6W)
Sometimes I find it nice to have a little dimmed light! Also, unfortunately, not every bulb fits in.
The lamp is awesome :)
