Does the lamp light up immediately when it is plugged into the socket? I want to be able to switch on the lamp by means of a switched socket and not have to press the switch-on button or the remote control. Thanks :)

I think at the beginning you have to set the lamp safely (colour etc.) and switch it on with the remote control. Then pull out the plug and do not press the switch-off button. That's how I think it should work. 
For example, if you don't press the switch-off button on the hoover, it will run immediately when you plug it in.
