Does the iPad (2018) with LTE/4G support Swisscom's eSIM or must a physical SIM card be purchased?

So, the question is to be understood like this: Will the iPad support Swisscom's eSIM in future? According to https://www.swisscom.ch/de..., it is only available for Windows.
