Does it work reliably with Macbook Pros under Catalina? I am looking for a dock for 2 x 4k 60hz or at least 1 x 5k, USB, Ethernet. Can it also transmit sound via HDMI or DP?

"It’s because the Dxxxx series docks use DisplayLink rather than tapping into native GPU outputs. DisplayLink uses a driver to have the CPU and GPU compress video for transmission as regular USB traffic, and then a chip in the dock decompresses it and transmits it to the displays. That’s why you’re seeing all that CPU activity and horrible performance."

The docking station is bad for the MacBook Pro. When you develop, you use more than 65W and you also need an extra power supply. Add a hard drive for Time Machine and the lights go out. Docking station: Missed the mark. Halfway passable if you don't have to upgrade immediately. The Display Link driver for Mac is just awful. Out of the box - not really Apple. I might as well stay with Windows.

Under Catalina, there are unfortunately only beta drivers that do not work very reliably. For me, it works with one MacBook and not with another. With a little patience, however, a driver will surely be released soon that will work as well as before under Mojave.

Another question confirms that the dock works with a MacBook Pro 13 inch.
So it seems to do that in principle.

The rest comes from the spec.
