Does anyone use the Momentum 2 microphone with a PC via a cable connection? The jack connector can't transmit a microphone signal, can it be done with the USB cable?
I got the answer in a specialist shop, where I was also allowed to try it out myself. I don't want to withhold it from you:
Yes, the headset can be connected to the computer via USB - then both the audio output and the audio input (i.e. microphone) work, as long as you have set this under "Playback and recording devices".
Unfortunately, the jack cable supplied cannot transmit a microphone, i.e. telephoning is not possible. However, you can buy a separate 4 (or 3?) pin cable from Sennheiser (basically the same ones used with the normal Momentum 2), which will also work with the Momentum 2 Wireless. Costs about 30 - 50 CHF, depending on where you buy them.
Hope this helps someone else.
Further information:
Although the jack plug is shown on the Sennheiser homepage as being able to transmit an audio input as well as an output, there is only one cable for audio input in the scope of delivery.
Therefore, the following questions: Can I use the headphones via USB, e.g. for Skype or Teamspeak (the latency of Bluetooth is too high for me, I would only be able to use BT when I am on the road)? Or then the other question: You can replace the jack cable - is that also possible with one that is in- and output-capable?
Hope someone can help / test it briefly! Thank you!
