Does anyone know if there is a possibility to copy the created back-up (e.g. via USB connected to the PC)?

No, you cannot copy a backup :)
The iXpand Base is only for photos, videos and contacts. If you replace your iPhone at some point with a new model, you can copy these (photos, videos and contacts) to your new iPhone using the "Restore" function.
