Question about Sony KD65AG8

Does anyone have experience with this TV in combination with a Sonos Playbase + 2 Play 1. As I have already seen, the remote control is not with infrared and that is why you cannot change the volume directly with the supplied remote control. Does anyone know of a good solution? Could I just use a universal remote control (with IR) to control the volume of the TV / Playbasel? Does the TV even recognise IR or does it have to be a special remote control?
