These scanners must be configured before the first use by scanning the corresponding barcodes in the manual.
For example, character set (code page), language, USB interface (if different interface cables are possible).
Unlike a mobile phone, the scanner has to translate the scanned data into the correct keyboard codes so that it arrives correctly at the PC. Windows treats the scanner like a keyboard.
To test it, I would use a blank document or Notepad. 
That would be my first thought.

Answer

This scanner cannot read Swiss QR codes. It is therefore not at all suitable for e-banking in Switzerland. Digitec should also store it like this.
