No, according to our information this is unfortunately not possible.
I have read reports in the headfi forum that it works. However, you have to buy a small adapter separately. There is a huge selection on Amazon. The adapter has a male USB-C connector at the front and a female USB-micro or Lightning connector right behind it. The adapter should also be OTG-compatible. On the smartphone side, Android 8 or higher should not be a problem.
You can buy a Type-C to Micro USB cable. Sony has one: CP-CB100.
