Can you also operate 4 hard disks individually, and for the raid connection, do they all have to be the same disks, or does only the capacity have to be correct, can you make 2 raid connections or only one large one?

With the IB-3640SU3, 4 HDs can be formatted and operated as 4 individual HDs (JBOD mode - Just A Bunch of Disks). RAID modes are not possible with this box; a software-configured RAID solution, as possible with formatting under Mac OS, is not advisable. If RAID should be possible, you have to go for IB-RD3640SU3 ( ICY BOX IB-RD3640SU3, 4x RAID for 3.5" SATA (3.5", Black) ). The device is more expensive because the additionally integrated hardware RAID controller can independently combine the HDs. The IB-RD3640SU3 can be used with 4 HDs (4x 2TB as an example) in the following modes: RAID 0 (2+2+2+2, results in 1x 8TB volume, high speed, no backup - if one HD fails everything is gone) / RAID 1 (2TB storage HD and 3x 2TB backup HD mirrored, normal speed, 3-fold backup, if one fails you still have 3 copies). / RAID5 (3x 2TB data 1x 2TB backup HD, fast read speed, sum of all HDs minus 1HD as backup gives total capacity, if one HD fails the data can be reconstructed from the other 3 HDs). There are other ways to stack RAID0 and RAID1 on top of each other, but RAID5 is recommended for everyday use. For RAID, it is also recommended to always use the same HDs. In this case, 4x of the same model/size.
I have 4 different disks in use. But of course WITHOUT raid
