Question about Tamron SP AF 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2, Canon EF

I bought a Tamron teleconverter 2x for the lens. The autofocus only works partially and very slowly.
Actually, the combination is only really usable in manual focus. I suspect this will also be the case with the Canon extender.
