Not really, the underside is fitted with small hooks, these give the mat a secure hold on a carpet. On a wooden laminate floor, I have a similar product underneath like:
Sport-Thieme fitness mat (10 mm) The mat holds well on the floor and the NLR Floor Mat also holds perfectly on the mat. Whether it makes sense is up for debate, but I prefer this fluffy surface to that of a yoga mat and it feels more like a vehicle.
