Can this monitor be operated in 4k resolution at 60Hz on HDMI cable? I would like to connect this to an Alienware 15R3 laptop....

Yes, you can do that. The monitor has two different HDMI connections, whereby one with version 1.4 only offers 4K with 30 Hz. With the other, version 2.0, 4K at 60 Hz can be operated without problems.
