Can this machine only make hot milk without having to make a latte machiatto? For example, if you only need hot milk for Ovaltine.

Yes, you can, but only via the Latte Macchiatto or Cappucino diversions and then press the start button again when the coffee starts. Then no coffee comes out and you can enjoy the milk foam. Important: set the coffee to ground before starting, then no beans are needed.
