Can the docking station be connected to a laptop that has neither a USB-C nor a USB-A port ? (only USB 2 or 3 port)

The docking station must be connected to a USB-A. The USB-A indicates the connector shape. USB2 or USB3 indicates the transfer speed. You can connect the docking to a USB2 (480Mbit/s) or USB3 (5Gbit/s). With USB2, the connected devices will hardly run "fluently". I recommend connecting the docking to a USB3. (USB-C is not supported)
