Question about Sony Xperia 5 II
Can it be that Sony only allows original Sony USB cables for data transfer? I have tried various USB C to USB cables, but can only connect with the supplied (usb c to usb c) cable. Huawai cables don't work - other, no name cables don't work either :-(

All cables work for me. Have you also activated file sharing on the device when connecting to the mobile phone?
FYI - I now have a doc on my PC with USB-C and USB-3 ports. With the new Sony USB-3 to USB-C and the supplied USB-C to USB-C cable I can connect - my Xperia is recognised immediately. If I plug a peripheral (usb-c) in front of the Xperia (e.g. an extension USB-C) or a "foreign" USB-C cable - nothing works. - Not a problem for me, but stupid, because you don't have the benefit of the standard. :-( ...

I haven't noticed that until now.
If I connect something via cable, I use the one that is close by.
