Can I use 144hz via HDMI cable? My laptop only has one HDMI output. MFG

This did not work with my old HDMI cable. With a better HDMI cable it works for me now, 2560x1440 144Hz. I use a GeForce GTX 970 as my graphics card.
The GK should also be able to output 144 Hz, otherwise no chance.
No, as far as I know it is only supported by the displayport.
