Can I download Whatsapp on this tablet? Certain tablets are not recognised as a phone by whatsapp and there is no way to install the app.

whatsapp is usually not released for tablets. this is also the case with the Tab S2 VE.
You need ekine app, you can just go to https://web.whatsapp.com/ and then put this website on your homescreen
Unfortunately, I have no idea. I don't use WhatsApp because of data theft.
