"I was really happy with the PH550 until the battery completely stopped working after just two years of use. There are two reasons why I can no longer recommend this product. 1) When the battery dies the projector becomes useless, it will not work with direct power from the power cable. That is a major design flaw. 2) It is very difficult, if not impossible, to replace the battery. I have contacted multiple LG Authorized Service Centers in Chicago area and no one can help. I tried to order the battery from authorized parts dealers and discovered they don't know what battery to order. Also, the battery isn't easy to replace, you will need technical skill with electronics to replace it, which is another design flaw. So, don't buy this or any LG projector that has a rechargeable battery. You will be disappointed."

Answer

Perhaps the battery system is designed in such a way that the current must first pass through the battery and then come on. If this is effectively the case (and the current cannot bypass the battery) then it is imperative that the battery is in good condition.

The warranty is 2 years, so the repair service could not offer this.
However, if it happens during the warranty period, you can safely send the device for repair, and they will replace the battery.
