Question about OWC Thunderbolt 2 Docking
Are there actually "real" Thunderbolt hubs? Somehow only two Thunderbolt connections seem a bit pointless to me. ... or is that a technical limitation of Thunderbolt?

It's not technical. I know someone who has a hub with 3 Thunderbolt ports. (Unfortunately, I don't know the exact name) It's probably just a question of how much energy you put into searching for suitable products whether you find what you're looking for. I have to admit in all honesty that I eventually bought this product too. - But I would not recommend it
This product is definitely not a Thunderbolt hub, but it is a pretty good docking station for a Macbook Retina, for example. In my case, the second Thunderbolt port is used as a DisplayPort for the external display, so Thunderbolt is over there, but I only have two cables on the Macbook (power and Thunderbolt). I think it's good for this application.
