Question about Sonos Era 300

All those who are using the One as a rear today should wait a little longer before buying the Era 300 if they also want to use it as a rear. Atmos is really great with it, but the rest of the content was better for me with the One as rear. Why? Well, the six drivers used as rear only all work with an Atmos signal. With other signals like stereo or 5.1, only the outer driver is used, the rest is deactivated. This sounds like using the one as rear and turning it away from you. The surround control has no effect on this, only the outer driver becomes quieter or louder. Hopefully, Sonos will give us the option to activate the remaining drivers if necessary. Personally, I don't think so.

The point I was making was when the Era 300 is used as a rear, i.e. as a surround speaker, e.g. together with an ARC and a sub. In this configuration, only Atmos content is controlled by all six drivers; for all other sources, only the drivers on the outside of the speakers are controlled. Not everyone will like this, hence the note. With Atmos, of course, they sound very good, so if you only listen to this kind of content, you won't go wrong with the Era 300.

I use it as a main speaker, without any special arrangements, and the performance is good
