DFRobot RPLIDAR A1M8-R6 360 degree laser scanner
2D point cloud????? 2D or 3D? The second sentence of the description probably contains a typo: "The generated 2D point cloud data can be used for mapping, localisation and object/environment modelling." Or have I not understood something fundamental about 3D scanners...?
The DFRobot RPLIDAR A1M8-R6 is a 360-degree 2D laser scanning solution. The generated 2D point cloud data can be used for various applications such as mapping, localisation and object/environment modelling. To create a 3D map with height information, a 3D laser scanner that captures the third dimension would be required.
