Question about edimax SP-2101W V2 Swiss Smart Plug
Good morning! Has anyone managed to get the plug to work with EdiSmart? The plug has version 3.00c on it and after connecting it first says "Connection successful" and then shortly afterwards "Unable to connect". I found a manual, but it didn't work for me either: https://github.com/mwittig/edimax-smartplug/issues/17
I also have huge problems because the app is absolute rubbish. The very fact that you have to give access to contacts, microphone etc. in order to operate a plug is an impertinence in my opinion. Digitec should simply not sell such immature products!
After emailing Edimax customer support, I received the following instructions. With this I was able to establish the connection. But when I am outside my own network, it does not work.... here are the instructions:
1. connect to the router (this must use a pure WPA2 encryption; please check).
2. switch off mobile data on the smartphone, switch on GPS, allow permissions for the EdiSmart app on everything. 3.
3. start EdiSmart, create an account and confirm the link in the confirmation email you receive.
4. leave the app running in the background and switch to the settings of the smartphone to connect directly to the smart plug via WLAN.
5. open the EdiSmart app again and follow the instructions for installing the smart plug.
Hello, I have also had problems with the current iOS on the iPad. With the older iPad 2 or iPhone 6 it worked wonderfully. I already have 2 Smart Plugs in use with my PV system and both have been working trouble-free for months.
EdiSmart wants access to all files, camera/micro, GPS and crashes immediately even if I allow everything and turn on GPS.
Hello Tofe69, it worked fine for me! Have you installed the correct "Edi Max" app?
