1. can I use it to connect a Micron 5210 ION (7680GB, 2.5") to the Thunderbolt 3 port of a ThinkPad T840? 2. can I use it to connect a Micron 5210 ION (7680GB, 2.5") to the USB C 3.1 Gen2 port of a notebook? 3. can I use it to connect a Micron 5210 ION (7680GB, 2.5") with a USB C to USB 3.0 cable to a notebook with USB 3.0? 4. can I use it to connect a Micron 5210 ION (7680GB, 2.5") with a USB C to USB 3.0 cable to a notebook with USB 2.0? In general, all USB connections are downward compatible. This means that with the necessary adapter it will work, but you will lose speed.
So I can answer all questions with yes.
