Only recommended in a really noisy environment
After the predominantly very positive reviews here, I am quite disappointed with the sound of the Bose: Under active noise reduction, the Bose filter out external noise very effectively, but the lower frequencies are lost. The headphones sound strangely thin. No comparison to my Sony Inear earphones, which cost half as much.
For me, the only argument for using the headphones is a really loud environment (plane/train), otherwise I advise against it.
Pro

- Effective noise reduction in the middle and lower frequency range
- pleasant daytime comfort
Contra
- Sound quality mediocre
- Unpleasant pressure on eardrum when NR is switched on
- Relatively clunky (compared to e.g. in-ear KH9)
- Hardly any noise reduction for high-frequency hissing noises (e.g. pneumatic doors in suburban trains).
Isn't your assessment a bit unfair? ANC may not work with certain noise sources. In addition, ANC has a different effect on each person because each person has a different inner and outer ear shape.
