Zeiss Otus T 28 mm f/1.4 - 16, Nikon F
Nikon F, full sizeProduct details
When image angles reach extreme sizes in SLR systems, the distance between the rear lens and the image plane must be much greater than the focal length - the original application range of the Distagon type. This complex retrofocus construction can also be used excellently with modern highly corrected lenses with longer focal lengths.
Aberrations are particularly noticeable in night shots with large differences in brightness. Thanks to the excellently corrected lateral chromatic aberration, the luminous facade is reproduced absolutely perfectly. Thanks to its outstanding sharpness, the Zeiss Otus makes optimum use of modern high-resolution sensors and rewards you with impressive resolution in your images. Down to the smallest detail.
The aspherical lens design ensures consistent imaging performance across the entire focus range as well as image sharpness at the image periphery. The more complex surface profile of the aspherical lens can reduce or even prevent spherical aberration and reduce other optical aberrations compared to a simple lens.
As an apochromat, the chromatic aberrations (longitudinal chromatic aberrations) of the lens are corrected by lenses made of special glass with anomalous partial dispersion. The chromatic aberrations are therefore well below defined limits. Light-dark transitions in the image and especially highlights are reproduced largely free of colored artifacts.
Dramatic perspectives and the view from unusual angles Zeiss lenses open up creative possibilities. Distortion would disturb the composition, as straight lines whose image does not pass through the center of the image would be rendered curved. This disturbing effect is largely compensated for by sophisticated optical designs for all focal lengths.
