Grundsätzlich zeigt dieses Zeiss die üblichen Eigenschaften eines 15 mm Objektivs: innen gut und außen am Rand dann eher mäßig. Abblenden bringt jedoch nicht das erwartete Plus, was die Empfehlung kostet. Bei einem Preis von 2.600 Euro ohne AF muss der Rand bei Blende 5,6 einfach stimmen. Ungewöhnlich ist das Filtergewinde mit 95 mm Durchmesser.
Die Stärke des Zeiss Distagon T* 2,8 / 21 mm ZF.2 ist die insgesamt gute Auflösung. Darüber hinaus erfordert das Festbrennweiten-Objektiv jedoch ein paar Kompromisse, gerade auch bei Objektivgüte und Ausstattung zeigt das Modell nur durchschnittliche Werte.
