The Xiaomi Redmi 7 was introduced on March 18, 2019, as the successor to Xiaomi's affordable entry-level model, the Redmi 6. There are upgrades, especially in terms of processor and battery life, although the price remains roughly the same. The display also grows from 5.45 to approximately 6.3 inches.
As mentioned, the Redmi 7 features a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 269 ppi. The resolution is relatively lower than the pixel densities of current flagship models (approximately 400 ppi), which is understandable given the price. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 provides necessary resistance to scratches.
In terms of design, the Redmi 7's waterdrop notch, used on almost all current Xiaomi smartphones, is particularly striking. This notch is placed at the upper edge of the display and accommodates the front camera. For materials, Xiaomi uses plastic for both the frame and the back. Although this is not as high quality as the glass components often used, it is also not as slippery. The mobile phone is available in black, red, and blue.
In terms of performance, the most significant differences from the predecessor model can be seen in the Redmi 7. The current version of the Redmi series features a Snapdragon 660 processor, which corresponds to an effective performance increase of approximately 40% compared to the Redmi 6. With the Redmi 7, standard tasks are no problem, and even some computer-intensive 3D games should be easily manageable. A 4000 mAh battery ensures long running times.
Xiaomi uses the Android user interface MIUI 10, based on Android 9, for the operating system. MIUI enables intuitive operation and the ability to customize the user interface according to individual preferences.
