The Slim patch cables from Wirewin are a solution for various cabling issues. Although they visually resemble flat ribbon cables, the Slim patch cables achieve the specifications of Category 6, making them suitable for 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T/TX applications, including Gigabit Ethernet. Three Slim patch cables have only the diameter of a single standard Cat5e patch cable. Despite their extremely thin design, the cable features twisted pairs. Additionally, it has a wide, flexible strain relief and a practical length print on both ends, and it supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).

A typical application area for the Slim patch cables is crowded server and network cabinets or cable ducts. They are also recommended for telephone panels in server areas where high port densities exist, or for connecting VoIP phones. Furthermore, the Slim patch cables are ideal for transport in tight spaces such as laptop bags. They are also suitable for installation under carpets or laminate flooring.

Cat 6 cables are designed for operating frequencies up to 250 MHz and are often used in professional environments. While transmission speed may suffer over longer distances, slight excess lengths are generally acceptable depending on external influences. Application fields for Cat 6 include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks. This STP cable is a symmetrical cable with twisted and shielded pairs. Shielded cables exhibit minimal impedance or reactance deviations compared to unshielded ones. The transmission parameters remain relatively constant even at high frequencies and are better than those of UTP cables.

Patch cable type

The cable type, describes the structure of a network cable. Fiber optic cables are suitable for distribution over longer distances (up to 80 km) and are resistant to interference. Copper cables can be used for distances up to 100 m and are cheaper to purchase.

Contact assignment

The contact assignment provides information on how the network cable can be used. An uncrossed cable can be used to connect terminals to the network, while a crossed cable can be used to connect two terminals.
