With PiMF cables, each pair of wires is shielded with its own metal foil. PiMF cables are characterized by a good attenuation-crosstalk ratio (ACR) and a high near-end crosstalk attenuation (NEXT).
Screened Foiled Twisted Pair (S/FTP) refers to cables that have a metallic screen around each wire pair (FTP) and additionally a metallic overall screen (S). Compared to unshielded cables, shielded cables show hardly any impedance or reactance deviations. The transmission parameters are relatively constant and better than with UTP cables, even at high frequencies.
