The WA-19 faithfully recreates one of the most popular dynamic microphones for studio and live performances of the 1960s, bringing back a favorite for both studio and stage. Like the original, which was appreciated by live and studio engineers, the WA-19 offers a unique combination of the functionality of a dynamic microphone and the studio-worthy sound of a condenser microphone. With critical noise rejection and reduced proximity effect of a dynamic microphone, the WA-19 captures vibrant highs for enhanced detail and outperforms many studio dynamic microphones. This sound has been utilized by artists such as The Beatles, Tame Impala, Slayer, and many others.

To deliver the sound profile of the highly acclaimed original, the WA-19 features a custom, hand-assembled dynamic cardioid humbucker capsule that combines the critical noise rejection of a dynamic microphone with the clarity of highs found in a condenser microphone. The WA-19 includes a variable acoustic high-pass filter ring that attenuates up to 10 dB at 50 Hz, ideal for tightening the sound and emphasizing the upper mids without the electronic phase shift that often occurs with high-pass filters in preamps. Additionally, ventilated slots on the side of the WA-19 housing reduce proximity effect, eliminating booming bass associated with the microphone's closeness to louder sources and making editing easier, as fewer unwanted bass frequencies compete in the mix.
