Functionality
Gray filters, also known as ND filters (Neutral Density), uniformly reduce the entire visible light spectrum across the entire filter. This does not affect colors and contrasts. This reduction is useful in various applications. For instance, an extended exposure time can create flowing effects in moving water or be used in bright environments with an open aperture and extended shutter speed. The gray filter used here with a filter factor of 4 extends the exposure time or aperture increase by 2 f-stops.

Filter | In what situation
CPL | In situations where light reduction is minimal, the CPL filter is used to prevent glare in video footage.
ND4 | In weak but direct light, such as during sunrise and sunset.
ND8 | On sunny but cloudy days.
