The Gembird DVD-USB-03-BW external DVD burner is a little louder than the test winner when burning and playing back discs, but did not have any major weaknesses in the other tests.
That was close: the Transcend TS8XDVDS-K came out on top. It was one of the fastest burners tested and its noise level was kept within limits. The Asus Zendrive U8M and Verbatim Slimline CD/DVD Writer 43886 models tested were exactly as good.
